Lockheed S-3 Viking

With the 44th book in our Duke Hawkins series, we return to one of the legends of the US Navy: we bring you a 148-page portrait of the Lockheed S-3 Viking. This book includes a lot of action photography, as well as images of every possible detail of the aircraft, including the cockpit, fuselage, wing fold, landing gear, avionics bay, vertical tail fold and more. The aircraft, nicknamed Hoover, had a crew of 4 and was specifically designed as an anti-submarine hunter.

This new book will be available in April from us or your favorite book- or modelshop.

Now available from Duke Hawkins: NH Industries NH90

While the use of the NH90 helicopter started with some controversy and some operators even withdrew it more quickly than expected, at the time of writing, the medium-sized helicopter was ordered by 14 countries and more than 600 have been built. At the basis of this book are the NH90s that were bought by the Belgian Air Force, which bought two versions: the TTH – Tactical Transport Helicopter – and the NFH – NATO Frigate Helicopter – but photos of all operators of the helicopter are featured in this book!

This new book in the Duke Hawkins series – the 43rd – is filled with both action and detail. Included in this book are the different versions of the cargo bay, cockpit and one of the most extensive maintenance chapters that’s what we’ve done so far! Close to 400 photos are packed in this 148 page book! It is available now from us or from you favourite book or modelshop!

Available: two new books from Duke Hawkins !
Seahawk & Mosquito

Not one, but two new books are now available: in the Duke Hawkins series a book on the Sikorsky MH-60R/S Seahawk and in the Classic series one on the De Havilland Mosquito.

The book on the MH-60R/S Seahawk is a 148-page book with over 330 photographs showing a lot of action and all the detail you want, from the cockpit and cargo bay to the rotor and every bit of the fuselage. The Seahawk has been around for decades and is used in a huge variety of tasks, from deploying Special Ops to hunting submarines, transporting cargo and much more. The type is in use with many countries, but most of the photos in this book are from active US Navy helicopters.

Our 4th book in the Classic series offers a very close look at the legendary De Havilland Mosquito. Almost entirely built out of wood, this aircraft was an all-rounder, flying pathfinder and reconnaissance missions, but it was also used as a light bomber, a nightfighter and ground attack aircraft. Not that many are airworthy today, most of which are featured in this book, but we also photographed some really rare ones, such as the Mosquito NF.30 that is part of the Air Museum in Brussels.

Close-up of the P-51D Mustang

Of the 15.000 Mustangs that were built, some 8.000 were P-51Ds. Today about 150 of them remain in airworthy condition. The Mustang was a game changer for the allies during the Second World War; for the first time, a fighter aircraft was able to escort the bombers to and from the targets, even if these were deep into enemy territory.

This new book in the Duke Hawkins Classics series shows every part of the P-51D in close detail. We were able to photograph over 40 Mustangs for this book, which includes more than 250 photographs, showing the fuselage, cockpit, wings, and landing gear. And is tradition, an extensive maintenance chapter is included!

Fairey Swordfish

The next book in the Classics series is in full preparation and is on the legendary Fairey Swordfish. A product of the interbellum, the Swordfish finds itself in between the era of the biplane and the aircraft designed for the Second World War. The Swordfish was a carrier-borne torpedo bomber and first flew in the Spring of 1934. A total of 2.391 were built, 692 by Fairey and 1.699 by Blackburn. This 5th book in the series brings a complete portrait of the aircraft that became famous for the attacks on the Bismarck battleship and the port of Taranto. No detail is overlooked, from the wings, engine, cockpit and fuselage to the landing gear. Action photos of the two sole surviving Swordfish were possible thanks to a close collaboration with Navy Wings, based at Yeovilton, where the aircraft are kept in fantastic condition.

This book will be available by the end of February 2026.

Aircraft Survivors

Hardcover book project with Philip Stevens

For many years, aviation photographer Philip Stevens has been visiting preserved aircraft around the world. He visited aviation museums, air bases, gate guards, restoration projects, private collections and even aircraft that are all but forgotten. Upon talking to Philip, I immediately felt his passion for aviation history and plans were made to present his high quality photographs in a book.

While there is still a lot of work to be done on this book and the release date is still unkown, I wanted to share with you that we are working on this special project. This hardcover book will focus on aircraft survivors, some of them the only ones left in the world, in collections in Europe. With this book, we hope to motivate you to visit some of these aircraft yourself and learn about their place in aviation history. This book will also give a technical insight in how to photograph vintage or veteran aircraft in sometimes difficult areas.

Reprinting out of stock books

We regularly receive emails from aircraft enthusiasts and scale modellers, asking if we are going to reprint our out-of-stock books

We regularly receive emails from aircraft enthusiasts and scale modellers, asking if we are going to reprint our out-of-stock books. Currently, we have 5 books out of stock, but whenever possible, we do reprint the books. Just recently, we reprinted our first book, on the Sepecat Jaguar for the third time! So, yes: the out-of-stock references will be reprinted. A regular visit to our website will keep you informed,

What we are working on next

We aren’t going to tell you that !!! But, we can drop a few hints, though!

While we are but a small team, we try to bring at least 6 to 8 new books each year. The only way to do that is to work on many books at the same time. Currently, we have 3 series: the modern aircraft, classic aircraft and aircraft carriers. We work on new books in each of these series and even some new series! While we want to keep the subjects of the books a surprise, we can drop some hints, right? How about a helicopter that is currently used both on land and at sea by many different countries?

The adventure of making books on carriers

Making books on aircraft carriers presents an incredible opportunity but also a big challenge. When you finally get the green light to visit an aircraft, you only get limited time aboard. This can be from 1 to 4 days – if you get lucky. And you aren’t probably the only photo journalist invited, so you have to take that into account. Basically, you try to take as many photos of as many different parts of the aircraft, helicopters and of course the ship itself. The first book in this series was on the Spanish assault ship Juan Carlos I. We show you the harrier IIs on the ship, a series of helicopters – like the Sea King, Bell 212 and Cougar  – and the military vehicles that are brought to shore by the landing craft. Discover the details of the ship’s interior, defence systems and super structure!
