Who’s Duke?
So, there I was, looking for a book that could show me the Jaguar in every detail. Didn’t find it… And online, just a few photos that didn’t make things a lot better. Because I couldn’t find what I was hoping for, I decided to make a book for myself. Showing it to a friend, he said: “We should publish it! And make other books too! Why not start a series?” And while that sounds easier than it is, that’s what happened!
8 years later, we have completed 50 books, most of them in our two main series: Duke Hawkins and Duke Hawkins Classics. And we’ve got plans for quite a few more! Actually, plans for more series, decals, sets, kits, …
I’m sure you understand; there’s just not getting me away from the window when I hear an aircraft coming over, even if just by the sound of it, I know it’s a C-130, A400M or a rare F-16 flying over the city. Today, while making the books, the fun of it is in talking to ground crews, pilots, engineers, maintaineers, aircraft historians and anyone with whom I share the enthusiasm for aircraft or scale modelling. A passion for aviation is something that I’ve had in me for a long time. The photo below shows me doing research for the first book I had planned….
